Employees of the Fiji Roads Authority and members of the Christ Embassy church in Suva recently came together to participate in a tree-planting initiative along the Tamavua-i-Wai waterway. This collaborative effort was aimed at bolstering environmental conservation efforts in the region.

One of the church members, Sereima Foster, shared that the group was also engaging in this activity to honor the birthday of their pastor, Chris Oyakhilome.

The Fiji Roads Authority highlighted that this project is part of their Mangrove Replanting Program, which is designed to align with the environmental safeguards related to the Tamavua-i-Wai Bridge construction. According to their statement, “This initiative seeks to restore mangrove ecosystems that were affected by the bridge’s construction, contributing to climate resilience, biodiversity conservation, and sustainable livelihoods in our communities.”

This grassroots effort exemplifies how community engagement can lead to positive environmental impact while celebrating significant occasions. It shows a commitment to sustainability and acknowledges the importance of preserving natural habitats for future generations.

Overall, the collaboration between the Fiji Roads Authority and the church demonstrates that collective actions can foster a healthier environment, paving the way for greener initiatives in the future.
