Authorities have confirmed that a man was swept away by strong currents while attempting to cross a swollen river near Cogea Village in Bua yesterday afternoon. The 65-year-old man was caught in the fast-flowing water as he attempted the crossing.
In response to the incident, search efforts were launched immediately; however, these efforts have so far yielded no positive results. Access to Cogea Village remains significantly restricted due to flooded roads and crossings, which hinder officers from reaching the area to contribute directly to the search operations.
In light of these events, police have issued strong warnings urging the public to heed safety advisories, particularly during this period of heavy rainfall and flooding. The situation underscores the importance of exercising caution in adverse weather conditions to prevent similar tragedies.
