A man in his 20s is set to appear at the Labasa Magistrates Court today, facing charges of allegedly sexually assaulting a 7-year-old girl.
The incident purportedly occurred on the night of June 27, 2024. The accused, who is known to the family, had offered to take the victim from her grandfather’s home to her mother after she woke up crying.
It is alleged that along the way, the accused sexually assaulted the victim before bringing her home. The victim reported the incident to her mother, who then lodged a complaint at the Nabouwalu Police Station. The accused has been charged with one count of sexual assault.
