At the graduation ceremony held at the Civic Centre in Labasa, he was honored with three prestigious awards recognizing his academic excellence.
The 32-year-old from Vunikodi Village, Udu, Macuata, stood out for his remarkable accomplishments, receiving accolades for Academic Excellence in Normal Puerperium and Newborn, as well as in Normal Labour and Birth, culminating in Overall Academic Excellence in his program.

He decided to pursue a nursing career after losing his father, Veveni Robinson, during his Year 11 studies. As the second eldest of eight siblings, he felt a strong obligation to support his family and community.
His decision to specialize in midwifery is deeply personal, as he expressed his wish to be a good father. “I chose to become a midwife, even though I am a male nurse, because I want to become a good father,” he shared. His dedication to patient care is echoed by his wife, who also works as a nurse at Labasa Hospital.
In pursuit of his dream, Mr. Robinson was motivated by the desire to bring joy to childbirth and ensure safe deliveries for mothers. “To help bring a life into this world and place it in a mother’s arms is the purest joy,” he said.
Advocating for the nursing profession, he highlighted its inclusive nature, encouraging individuals to explore careers in this field irrespective of gender. “Nursing is a beautiful profession where there is no boundary set between genders. I encourage people to pursue a career in this field,” he commented.
Jese Robinson’s achievements and dedication not only shatter gender norms but also serve as an inspiration for many, proving that empathy and expertise can transcend traditional boundaries.
Positive elements arise from his journey, illustrating how personal experiences can fuel professional aspirations. His story emphasizes the importance of diversity in nursing and can inspire others to pursue their dreams in healthcare, regardless of their background.
