The Public Service Commission (PSC) has confirmed a significant reshuffle of Permanent Secretaries in collaboration with the Prime Minister, aimed at enhancing leadership within key ministries. Chairman Luke Rokovada emphasized that this initiative is designed to optimize governance across essential sectors.

Starting February 3, 2025, Dr. Raijeli Taga will transition from her role as the Permanent Secretary for the Office of the Prime Minister to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Dr. Lesikimacuata Korovavala, who is currently the Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, will assume Dr. Taga’s previous position at the Office of the Prime Minister and will also take on additional responsibilities as the Acting Permanent Secretary for Immigration, directly reporting to the Minister of Immigration.

In another noteworthy development, Mr. Manasa Lesuma, currently the Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Housing, has expanded his role to include acting as the Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Policing as of January 14, 2025.

This strategic reshuffling follows a commitment from the government to nurture local talent and streamline operational efficiency within the public sector. It reflects ongoing efforts to place qualified leaders in pivotal roles to govern effectively. As highlighted in similar recent articles, this focus on capable leadership is pivotal for improving the civil service and ensuring responsive governance that meets the needs of the citizens.

In summary, these transitions represent a proactive approach by the government to foster growth, innovation, and effective leadership within its ministries, paving the way for a brighter future in public administration.
