Dr. Raijeli Taga, who currently serves as the Permanent Secretary for the Office of the Prime Minister, will transition to take on the role of Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Dr. Lesikimacuata Korovavala, the present Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, will succeed Dr. Taga at the Office of the Prime Minister while also acting as the Permanent Secretary for Immigration, reporting to the Minister of Immigration.

Additionally, Mr. Manasa Lesuma, who holds the position of Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Housing, has been assigned the role of Acting Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Policing, a position he has been managing since January 14, 2025.

PSC Chairman Luke Rokovada remarked that these adjustments are part of the government’s ongoing commitment to improve administrative effectiveness and leadership within its key ministries. This reshuffle not only aims to optimize the management capabilities of the public service but also highlights the importance of utilizing local talent in leadership positions, fostering enhanced accountability and responsiveness within government operations.

Moreover, this strategic realignment encapsulates a hopeful trajectory for governance in Fiji, addressing existing structural challenges and empowering skilled professionals to guide the nation’s development effectively. By promoting local expertise, the government intends to foster a more resilient and capable public administration that can better meet the evolving needs of its citizens.

In summary, the reshuffle is not just an administrative change but a progressive step towards strengthening governance and improving service delivery throughout the country, potentially heralding a new era of effective leadership in Fijian public service.
