Officers from the Western Division Serious Organised Crime Intelligence Department launched two successful raids in Malua Range, Navosa, resulting in the confiscation of over 2,000 plants suspected to be marijuana.
The operations were initiated based on credible information regarding illegal marijuana cultivation. Officers navigated challenging terrain, spending a night in the highlands to uncover the farms. In total, they discovered more than 1,800 plants at one location and an additional 900 plants, ranging from 10 cm to 2.5 meters in height, at another site.
Assistant Commissioner of Police – Operations, Livai Driu, emphasized the importance of this operation in disrupting the marijuana supply network. He highlighted that ongoing efforts are focused on targeting individuals involved in the cultivation and distribution of marijuana. Additionally, ACP Driu acknowledged recent arrests and court proceedings resulting from these efforts, thanking the public for their cooperation, which has been crucial in leading to these significant findings.
The community is urged to contribute to these efforts by providing confidential information to Crime Stoppers or various specified SOCID and Police command contacts.
This proactive approach by law enforcement not only aims to lessen the prevalence of illegal drug cultivation but also fosters community involvement in ensuring a safer environment. By encouraging public participation in reporting suspicious activities, authorities can strengthen their fight against crime.
