In a significant operation, law enforcement officials in Navosa conducted two raids that resulted in the seizure of over 2,000 plants suspected to be marijuana. The operations were carried out by the Western Division Serious Organised Crime Intelligence Department following intelligence reports concerning marijuana cultivation in the region.
Officers faced challenging conditions, navigating tough terrain and even spending a night in the highlands to locate the illicit farms. During their efforts, they discovered more than 1,800 plants at one farm and an additional 900 plants, ranging from 10 cm to 2.5 meters, at another site.
Assistant Commissioner of Police – Operations, Livai Driu, emphasized the importance of these seizures in disrupting the marijuana supply chain and reaffirmed the ongoing commitment to targeting individuals involved in both cultivation and distribution. He mentioned that recent arrests and subsequent court appearances underscore the effectiveness of collaborative efforts in tackling such illegal activities.
The police encourage the community to assist in their efforts by reporting any suspicious activities anonymously through Crime Stoppers or designated SOCID and Police Command contact numbers.
