In a significant operation, law enforcement officials from the Western Division Serious Organised Crime Intelligence Department executed two successful raids in the Malua Range area of Navosa, resulting in the confiscation of over 2,000 plants thought to be marijuana. This operation was prompted by credible information regarding illegal marijuana cultivation in the region.
Officers navigated challenging terrain and even spent a night in the highlands to locate the illicit farms. During their efforts, they uncovered more than 1,800 plants at one site and an additional 900 plants measuring between 10 cm and 2.5 meters at another location.
Assistant Commissioner of Police – Operations, Livai Driu, emphasized the importance of this seizure as a means to disrupt the marijuana supply chain. He reiterated the ongoing commitment of law enforcement to target individuals involved in both cultivation and distribution activities. Driu acknowledged the successes achieved recently, pointing out the collaborative efforts that led to these significant discoveries and previous arrests.
The police are urging the community to assist in these efforts by reporting any suspicious activities confidentially, directing them to contact Crime Stoppers or other designated police numbers.
