Law enforcement officials in Navosa conducted two successful raids, resulting in the seizure of more than 2,000 plants suspected to be marijuana. The operations, carried out by the Western Division Serious Organised Crime Intelligence Department, were prompted by reports of illegal marijuana cultivation in the area.
Navigating challenging terrain, officers spent a night in the highlands to locate the marijuana farms. During the raids, they discovered approximately 1,800 plants at one site and over 900 plants, varying in height from 10 cm to 2.5 meters, at another.
Assistant Commissioner of Police – Operations, Livai Driu, emphasized the importance of these seizures in disrupting the local marijuana supply chain. He underscored the department’s ongoing commitment to targeting those involved in the cultivation and distribution of illegal drugs. ACP Driu also acknowledged the value of community cooperation in these operations, noting recent arrests and court proceedings that stemmed from prior intelligence.
To bolster these efforts, the public is encouraged to confidentially report any information related to illegal drug activities by contacting Crime Stoppers or the designated SOCID and Police Command numbers.
This operation underscores the police’s dedicated efforts to tackle drug cultivation, promoting safer communities while encouraging public engagement in sharing crucial information. With continued vigilance and cooperation, there is hope for reduced drug-related issues in the region.
