Major Marijuana Bust: Over 2,000 Plants Seized in Malua Range Raids

In a significant operation, law enforcement officials from the Western Division Serious Organised Crime Intelligence Department executed two raids in Malua Range, Navosa, resulting in the seizure of more than 2,000 suspected marijuana plants.

The raids were prompted by credible information regarding marijuana farming in the area. Officers faced challenging terrain, spending an overnight trek in the highlands before making their discoveries. They uncovered approximately 1,800 plants at one location and an additional 900 plants at another site, with sizes ranging from 10 centimeters to 2.5 meters.

Assistant Commissioner of Police – Operations Livai Driu emphasized the importance of this operation in disrupting the marijuana supply chain and reiterated ongoing initiatives aimed at targeting the cultivation and distribution networks. He also acknowledged the collaborative efforts that have led to recent arrests and court proceedings connected to these activities.

The police have urged the public to assist in these efforts by providing tips and information confidentially through Crime Stoppers and various SOCID and Police Command contact numbers.
