Over 2,000 marijuana plants were confiscated during two police raids in the Malua range of Navosa. Officers from the Western Division Serious Organized Crime Intelligence Department (SOCID) initiated the operations after receiving intelligence about the suspected cultivation of marijuana in the area.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations (ACP) Livai Driu emphasized that this seizure significantly impacts efforts to disrupt illegal drug supply chains. He noted that operations are increasingly focused on those involved in the cultivation and distribution of cannabis.
ACP Driu also reported that several arrests have been made in recent weeks. Suspects have been charged and brought before the court, highlighting the effectiveness of community cooperation that has led to these recent discoveries and prior arrests.
In the first raid, officers discovered more than 1,800 plants at one farm, while in the second location, over 900 additional plants, ranging in height from 10 centimeters to 2.5 meters, were seized.
This operation reflects a strong commitment from law enforcement to combat drug cultivation and trafficking, contributing to safer communities. The collaboration of residents in reporting suspicious activities showcases a growing awareness and proactive stance against drug-related issues.
