In a significant operation, officers from the Western Division Serious Organised Crime Intelligence Department conducted two raids in Malua Range, Navosa, resulting in the seizure of over 2,000 suspected marijuana plants. The raids were prompted by intelligence regarding cannabis cultivation in the area.

The officers faced challenging terrain but persevered, spending a night in the highlands before uncovering more than 1,800 plants at one location and another set of over 900 plants, varying in height from 10 centimeters to 2.5 meters, at a second farm.

Assistant Commissioner of Police – Operations Livai Driu emphasized the importance of this seizure in disrupting the marijuana supply chain and reiterated the commitment to targeting individuals engaged in marijuana cultivation and distribution. He also mentioned recent arrests and court appearances, acknowledging the collaborative efforts that led to these successful operations.

The public is encouraged to report any information related to illegal cultivation anonymously, utilizing Crime Stoppers and various contact numbers provided by the Police.

This operation not only aims to curb illegal drug activities but also reinforces the community’s role in supporting law enforcement efforts. By fostering such partnerships, there is hope for a safer and healthier environment.
