Officers from the Western Division Serious Organised Crime Intelligence Department conducted two significant raids in Malua Range, Navosa, resulting in the seizure of over 2,000 suspected marijuana plants. Acting on credible information about illicit marijuana cultivation, the officers navigated challenging terrain and spent a night in the highlands to track down the farms.

During their operations, they uncovered more than 1,800 plants at one site and an additional 900 plants, with heights ranging from 10 cm to 2.5 meters, at another location.

The Assistant Commissioner of Police – Operations, Livai Driu, emphasized the importance of this seizure in disrupting the marijuana supply chain, highlighting the ongoing commitment to tackling cultivation and distribution networks. He also noted recent arrests and court proceedings, commending the community’s cooperation that facilitated these significant breakthroughs.

The police are encouraging the public to assist in these efforts by reporting any suspicious activity confidentially through Crime Stoppers or designated SOCID and Police Command numbers.

This proactive stance by law enforcement not only disrupts illegal activities but also contributes to community safety. The encouragement for public involvement reflects a collective effort to combat drug-related issues and promote a healthier environment for everyone.
