Police officers from the Western Division Serious Organised Crime Intelligence Department have successfully conducted two significant raids in Malua Range, Navosa, resulting in the seizure of over 2,000 plants suspected to be marijuana.

These operations were initiated following credible information regarding marijuana cultivation in the area. Officers navigated challenging terrain and spent the night in the highlands to locate the farms in question. At one site, they uncovered more than 1,800 plants, while another location yielded an additional 900 plants, varying in height from 10 centimeters to 2.5 meters.

Assistant Commissioner of Police – Operations, Livai Driu, emphasized the importance of this seizure in disrupting the marijuana supply chain and reiterated the commitment to pursue individuals involved in its cultivation and distribution. He also noted that recent arrests and subsequent court appearances were a direct result of the collaboration between law enforcement and the community.

The public is encouraged to contribute to these efforts by sharing information confidentially with Crime Stoppers or through designated SOCID and Police Command contacts.

This successful operation not only highlights the effectiveness of police work in addressing drug-related issues but also fosters hope for a cleaner and healthier community through the disruption of illegal drug activities. The community’s cooperation is a vital component in maintaining safety and reinforcing the ongoing fight against illegal drug trade.
