Authorities in Fiji have successfully seized over 2,000 plants suspected to be marijuana during two significant raids conducted by the Western Division Serious Organised Crime Intelligence Department in Malua Range, Navosa. The operations were prompted by intelligence regarding illegal marijuana cultivation, prompting officers to navigate challenging terrain to uncover the illicit farms.

During their extensive search, officers camped overnight in the highlands, which ultimately led them to discover more than 1,800 plants on one farm and an additional 900 plants—ranging in height from 10 cm to 2.5 meters—at another site.

Assistant Commissioner of Police – Operations Livai Driu remarked on the importance of this operation in disrupting the ongoing marijuana supply chain. He emphasized the commitment to targeting individuals involved in both cultivation and distribution networks. ACP Driu also acknowledged the recent arrests and court cases connected to these efforts and praised the collaboration between various agencies that facilitated these important breakthroughs.

The public is being urged to contribute to these efforts by reporting any information about illegal activities anonymously via Crime Stoppers or designated Police Command numbers.

This diligent work by law enforcement reflects ongoing efforts to combat drug-related activities, with hopes that continued public cooperation will further assist in maintaining safety and order in the community. It serves as a reminder of the collective responsibility against illegal drug cultivation and distribution.
