Law enforcement officials have successfully intercepted over 2,000 plants believed to be marijuana following two significant raids conducted by the Western Division Serious Organised Crime Intelligence Department in Malua Range, Navosa. The operation was initiated based on intelligence regarding the cultivation of marijuana in the area.

Officers traversed challenging terrain, spending a night in the highlands, to uncover marijuana farms. During the raids, they discovered more than 1,800 plants at one location and an additional 900 plants varying in height from 10 cm to 2.5 meters at another site.

Assistant Commissioner of Police – Operations Livai Driu emphasized the importance of this seizure in disrupting the marijuana supply chain. He reiterated ongoing efforts to focus on individuals involved in both cultivation and distribution. ACP Driu also acknowledged recent arrests and court proceedings that highlighted the collaborative effort that led to these significant findings and prior arrests.

The community is urged to assist in these initiatives by reporting any suspicious activities confidentially through Crime Stoppers or other designated hotline numbers provided by the SOCID and Police Command.

This proactive approach not only showcases the dedication of law enforcement to combat drug-related offenses but also reinforces the message that community engagement is vital in addressing and preventing illegal activities. As authorities continue to work toward curbing the cultivation of marijuana, it is hopeful that such efforts will lead to safer communities and a reduction in drug-related crime.
