Law enforcement officials have successfully seized over 2,000 plants suspected to be marijuana during two significant raids conducted in Malua Range, Navosa. This operation was carried out by the officers from the Western Division Serious Organised Crime Intelligence Department after receiving credible information regarding marijuana cultivation in the area.
The officers faced challenging terrain but persevered, spending a night in the highlands to locate the illegal farms. Their efforts were fruitful, as they uncovered more than 1,800 plants at one farm, while an additional site yielded over 900 plants of varying heights, from 10 cm to 2.5 meters.
Assistant Commissioner of Police – Operations Livai Driu emphasized the importance of this operation in disrupting the marijuana supply chain. He pointed out that these actions form part of ongoing efforts to dismantle the networks involved in the cultivation and distribution of marijuana. Driu also noted recent arrests and court appearances connected to this investigation, crediting community cooperation for the progress made.
The public has been urged to assist in these efforts by confidentially reporting any information to Crime Stoppers or the specified SOCID and Police Command numbers.
This proactive approach in combating drug cultivation highlights the commitment of law enforcement to ensure the safety and legality in the community. By continuing to work closely with the public, such operations can lead to a sustained reduction in illegal drug activity, promoting a healthier and safer environment for all.
