Shantui machines were officially handed over to the Ministry of Public Works, Meteorological Services and Transport by Vision Motors this week. The donation included two large excavators, two D6 bulldozers, two dumper trucks, and two flat-top trucks, collectively valued at over $1.62 million.
Paula Baleilevuka, the permanent secretary of the Ministry of Public Works, accepted the equipment on behalf of the ministry. He noted that this marks the first arrival of new machinery for the ministry in over a decade. “With these vehicles integrated into our fleet, we will be better equipped to serve our communities, particularly in enhancing maintenance work in rural and remote regions and providing timely support during emergencies,” Baleilevuka stated.
Ajay Lal, the principal dealer at Vision Motors, praised the ministry’s choice of his company as the dealer for these machines. “The government can be assured that we will fulfill its demands and stand firmly behind every brand,” he remarked.
Founded in 1953 in China, the Shantui brand has established itself as a significant technological and component partner to the well-known Caterpillar brand, while offering equipment at four times lower prices. Baleilevuka emphasized that the new machines would directly assist in ongoing and planned projects by the ministry, with expectations of adding more large machines to the fleet within the current financial year.
