The launch of the National Development Plan (NDP) is scheduled for next Tuesday, with Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka presiding over the event. Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Biman Prasad emphasized that this launch marks the beginning of an extensive NDP aimed at fostering national unity and a collective vision for social, economic, and political progress.
“Our National Development Plan will be officially unveiled on Tuesday by the Prime Minister,” Mr. Prasad stated. He highlighted the country’s potential to achieve significant wealth over the next 25 to 30 years, contingent on moving away from conventional practices.
He noted the importance of political stability, consistent policy-making, and a transparent, consultative approach in achieving these goals. The Ministry of Finance is leading the initiative and plans to incorporate insights from the recent Economic Summit, the Fiscal Review Committee report, and the outcomes of the Education Summit.
Mr. Prasad expressed confidence that the government will establish a legacy characterized by a political culture that enables peaceful and accountable transitions of power between different groups.
