The National Development Plan (NDP) is set to be launched next Tuesday, with Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka presiding over the event. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Biman Prasad indicated that this launch marks the beginning of a comprehensive NDP aimed at fostering national unity and promoting a collective vision for social, economic, and political progress.

“Our National Development Plan will be presented by the Prime Minister on Tuesday,” Mr. Prasad stated. He emphasized the country’s potential to achieve significant wealth within the next 25 to 30 years, highlighting that this ambition cannot be realized without moving away from traditional practices.

He stressed the importance of maintaining political stability, consistent policies, and an approach that prioritizes consultation, transparency, and accountability. The Ministry of Finance is leading the NDP initiative, which is expected to build upon the insights gained from the Economic Summit, the Fiscal Review Committee report, and outcomes from the Education Summit.

“We, as a Government, are confident that we will establish a lasting legacy, regardless of our time in power, illustrating a culture of political leadership that facilitates peaceful and accountable transitions between governments,” Mr. Prasad concluded.
