On Thursday, law enforcement officials conducted a drug raid in Waqadra, Nadi, resulting in the arrest of seven individuals. Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations (ACP) Livai Driu reported that authorities confiscated several zip lock bags containing crystals believed to be methamphetamine, along with another bag containing white powder thought to be cocaine. Additionally, more than $300, suspected to be proceeds from criminal activities, was also seized during the operation.
ACP Driu further noted that this raid was part of a broader effort, as various arrests for unlawful possession of illegal drugs were made throughout the past week in locations including Labasa market, Tomuka and Dreketi Settlement in Lautoka, Varadoli in Ba, Nasivi Street in Tavua, Nanuku Settlement, and Samabula.
This proactive approach by law enforcement highlights their commitment to combating drug-related crime and ensuring community safety. Residents can take comfort in the ongoing efforts to eliminate the presence of illicit drugs in their neighborhoods, which ultimately contributes to a healthier and more secure environment for all.
