Officers from the Western Division Serious Organised Crime Intelligence Department conducted two successful raids in Malua Range, Navosa, leading to the seizure of over 2,000 suspected marijuana plants. These operations were initiated following credible information regarding the cultivation of the drug in the area.
To execute these raids, officers navigated challenging terrain and spent a night in the highlands. Their efforts paid off when they uncovered more than 1,800 plants at one location and an additional range of over 900 plants, varying in height from 10 cm to 2.5 meters, at another site.
Assistant Commissioner of Police – Operations, Livai Driu, emphasized that this significant seizure will disrupt the marijuana supply chain and reiterated the ongoing commitment to combat drug cultivation and distribution. He acknowledged the recent arrests and court proceedings related to these operations and expressed gratitude for the community cooperation that facilitated these discoveries.
The public is urged to assist further in these efforts by reporting any relevant information confidentially through established channels such as Crime Stoppers and various Police Command numbers.
This initiative reflects the authorities’ persistent efforts to address drug-related issues, fostering a safer environment for the community. Continued support from the public can further enhance these operations, making a positive impact in the fight against illegal drug trade.
