A collaborative operation involving the Southern Division’s Serious and Organised Crime and Intelligence Department (SOCID), the Fiji Detector Dog Unit (FDDU), and the Police Dog Unit took place in Tacirua yesterday afternoon, leading to the discovery of dried leaves suspected to be marijuana.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations (ACP) Livai Driu reported that the operation targeted the residence of a 57-year-old suspect, where authorities recovered over 200 aluminum foil rolls filled with dried leaves, as well as more than a thousand small branches thought to be marijuana.
ACP Driu highlighted that the success of the raid demonstrates the valuable support from the community in collaborating with the Fiji Police Force by providing vital information.
The confiscation of these suspected illegal drugs, which were allegedly prepared for sale and distribution, marks a significant step in the joint efforts of the community and police to reduce drug supply.
ACP Driu expressed his gratitude to all individuals who continue to assist in the police’s ongoing battle against drug-related issues.
