Fiji Bati winger Maika Sivo has officially joined the Leeds Rhinos, signing a three-year contract with the club. Sivo’s impressive performance in a recent match, where he scored two tries in Fiji’s dominant 56-6 victory over the Cook Islands, has brought his total to ten tries in eight international matches.
In an interview following his signing, Sivo emphasized the significance of his relationship with Leeds coach Brad Arthur. Having transferred from the Parramatta Eels, where he was known for his prolific scoring, Sivo expressed enthusiasm about reuniting with Arthur, who previously worked with him for a decade before moving to Leeds.
“He is a big part of where I am today; I wouldn’t be here without Brad,” Sivo stated. He recalled that as soon as Arthur reached out, he and his partner were immediately on board with the decision. “When we talked to Brad, we are excited for the challenge ahead and we are looking forward to it,” he added.
Sivo also mentioned that this transition represents a significant change for him, as he has spent his entire career at Parramatta, making the move to Leeds a unique and challenging opportunity.
