Fiji Bati winger Maika Sivo has officially signed a three-year contract with the Leeds Rhinos. Sivo recently showcased his scoring ability by netting two tries for Fiji in a remarkable 56-6 victory over the Cook Islands, bringing his total to 10 tries in just eight Tests.
In an interview revealing his transition to Leeds, Sivo emphasized the importance of his relationship with Leeds coach Brad Arthur. He joins the Rhinos after departing from the NRL side Parramatta Eels, where he was known for his prolific scoring. This move reunites him with Arthur, who previously coached Sivo for a decade before taking the helm at Headingley, and adds to the growing presence of Fijian players in the Super League.
Sivo expressed gratitude for Arthur’s role in his journey, stating, “He is a big part of where I am today, I wouldn’t be here without Brad.” He mentioned that the moment Arthur reached out to him, he was eager to accept the offer, sharing that the decision was made quickly in conversation with his partner.
Although Sivo has only played for Parramatta, he views this new chapter as a significant opportunity and a refreshing challenge.
