Fiji Bati winger Maika Sivo has signed a three-year contract with the Leeds Rhinos. Sivo recently showcased his skills by scoring two tries in Fiji’s impressive 56-6 victory over the Cook Islands, bringing his total to ten tries in just eight international matches.
In a recent interview after his signing with Leeds was announced, Sivo emphasized the strong bond he shares with Leeds coach Brad Arthur. Sivo joins the team after playing for the NRL’s Parramatta Eels, where he established himself as a key try-scorer over the years. He will reunite with Arthur, who spent a decade with Parramatta before moving to Headingley. This transfer also adds to the increasing representation of Fijian players in the Super League.
Sivo reflected on Arthur’s pivotal role in his career, stating, “He is a big part of where I am today; I wouldn’t be here without Brad.” He expressed his enthusiasm for the move, revealing that he committed to Leeds as soon as Arthur reached out to him. “It was a big decision, but my partner and I agreed immediately when Brad contacted us. We’re excited for the challenge ahead.”
Having only played for Parramatta in his professional career, Sivo anticipates that this new chapter will bring different experiences and challenges.
