Fiji Bati winger Maika Sivo has officially signed a three-year contract with the Leeds Rhinos.

Sivo recently made headlines by scoring two tries during Fiji’s impressive 56-6 victory over the Cook Islands, bringing his total to 10 tries in eight international matches.

In an interview following his announcement as a Leeds player, he emphasized the importance of his relationship with Leeds coach Brad Arthur. After moving from the NRL’s Parramatta Eels, where he gained recognition as a top try scorer, Sivo returns to work with Arthur, who previously coached him for a decade before joining Leeds.

“He is a big part of where I am today; I wouldn’t be here without Brad,” Sivo stated. “As soon as he messaged me, I said, ‘Yeah, I’m coming’. He has supported me throughout my football career, and he is very close to my family.”

Sivo acknowledged that the decision to switch clubs was significant. After discussing it with his partner, they immediately agreed to the move once they heard from Arthur. “When we spoke with Brad, we were excited for the challenges ahead and are looking forward to it,” Sivo remarked.

Having only played for Parramatta, Sivo sees this transition as a unique opportunity and a new challenge in his career.
