Trustees from six mahogany plantations in Vanua Levu convened with representatives from the Ministry of Forestry, Fiji Mahogany Trust, Fiji Hardwood Corporation Limited, and the iTaukei Land Trust Board in Labasa.
The purpose of these consultations was to promote transparency and engage stakeholders prior to the commencement of harvesting operations.
Uraia Rainima, the Divisional Commissioner Northern, emphasized the significance of this meeting for landowners and its connection to the Government’s National Development Plan.
Iowane Naiveli, Chairman of Fiji Hardwood Corporation Limited, underlined the necessity of good governance and the generation of revenue from these activities.
The trustees are responsible for plantations located in Navonu, Saqani, Seaqaqa, Dreketi, Korotari, and Wainunu.
