PROUDS, a renowned family-owned luxury shopping outlet, has made a significant investment of approximately half a million dollars to establish a new location at the Damodar City Complex in Labasa.

General Manager Reshmi Singh highlighted that the outlet currently employs five staff members, three of whom are local to Labasa and have prior experience with other Prouds outlets. In response to the rising demand for their services, the company is looking to expand its team, planning to hire two additional staff members, which would increase the total to seven employees.

The decision to open a store in Labasa was driven by community demand. Singh noted that the outlet took two months to set up and aims to enhance shopping accessibility in the area.

Local customer Sangeeta shared their excitement about the new store, expressing relief over no longer needing to travel to Suva for favorite branded items. “We now have access to a variety of quality products, including jewelry, fragrances, cosmetics, and fashion accessories, all available under one roof,” they said. Sangeeta also praised the store, remarking that it meets international standards, comparing its layout to an outlet in Nadi.

The new PROUDS outlet is conveniently located next to Lunch Box and the food court at Damodar City Labasa, making it an excellent addition to the shopping landscape in the area.

This development reflects positive growth in the local economy, providing new job opportunities while enhancing shopping options for residents in Labasa. Such investments signify a commitment to community and localized service, which bodes well for future retail expansion in the region.

Overall, the establishment of the PROUDS outlet is a hopeful sign for local consumers and the economy alike, providing greater access to luxury goods and promoting local employment opportunities.
