Luxury Fijian Resort in for a $10 Million Surprise

Fully Fijian family-owned and luxury couples-only resort Likuliku Lagoon Resort is set to close for three months next year for a major $10 million renovation.

The planned renovations from February 1 to April 30, 2025, include:

– Refurbishing all bure, adding private plunge pools to 11 of the existing beachfront bure, increasing the number in that category from 18 to 29.
– Completing the synthetic roof thatching project for beachfront bure.
– Refurbishing the signature main pool.
– Introducing a new restaurant concept, raising the total dining options to three outlets.
– Establishing the na Vanua Conservation Hub in collaboration with Ahura Resorts Conservation Foundation.

“This investment reflects our confidence in Fiji’s tourism industry and will inject $10 million into the local construction economy, expecting to engage over 120 construction workers,” Mr. Whitton said.

During the three-month closure, the resort’s 130 employees will remain fully employed, taking annual leave and assisting with on-site work, as well as filling in at the sister property, Malolo Island Resort.

“We are very optimistic about the future of Fiji’s tourism industry and are committed to delivering world-class and exceptional experiences to our international visitors,” he added.

Upon completion, the renovations will create 15 new jobs.
