Luxury Fiji Resort Set for $10m Upgrade

Fully Fijian family-owned and luxury couples-only resort Likuliku Lagoon Resort will close for three months next year for a major facelift worth more than $10 million.

The series of significant projects scheduled from February 1 to April 30, 2025, include:

– Refurbishment of all bure, including adding private plunge pools to 11 of the existing beachfront bure, increasing the number of bures in that category from 18 to 29.
– Completion of the synthetic roof thatching project for beachfront bure.
– Refurbishment of the signature main pool.
– Addition of a new restaurant, increasing overall dining options to three outlets.
– Establishment of the na Vanua Conservation Hub in conjunction with Ahura Resorts Conservation Foundation.

“This investment reflects the confidence we have in Fiji’s tourism industry and will inject $10 million into the local construction economy, anticipating over 120 construction workers to be engaged,” said Mr. Whitton.

During this period, the 130 Likuliku employees will remain fully employed, taking annual leave, assisting with onsite works during closure, and filling in at the sister resort, Malolo Island Resort.

“We remain very optimistic about the future of Fiji’s tourism industry and our commitment to delivering world-class and exceptional experiences to our international visitors.”

Fifteen new jobs will be created upon completion.
