Former Socceroo Luke Wilkshire will be the distinguished chief guest at the Extra Supermarket Fiji FA Awards Night, scheduled for December 1 at the Crowne Plaza in Nadi.

Fiji Football Association Chief Executive Officer, Mohammed Yusuf, expressed his enthusiasm about Wilkshire’s attendance, stating that it is a privilege to host a FIFA Legend at the event. Wilkshire’s impressive international career and substantial contributions to Australian football are anticipated to inspire the local football community in Fiji.

During his visit, Wilkshire will participate in the Flick Hygiene Pacific Cup matches at Churchill Park in Lautoka and will pay a visit to the Fiji Ba Academy. His presence is likely to motivate football enthusiasts and aspiring players alike.

The Fiji FA Awards Night is making a comeback after a three-year break and will honor the best in Fiji football, with 16 awards set to be presented to players, teams, officials, and contributors.

Wilkshire enjoyed a remarkable playing career with teams such as Middlesbrough, Bristol City, FC Twente, Dinamo Moscow, Feyenoord, and Sydney FC, where he celebrated winning the A-League title in the 2017–2018 season. He earned 80 caps for the Socceroos, netting 8 goals, and represented Australia in two FIFA World Cups (2006 and 2010), the victorious 2015 AFC Asian Cup team, and the 2004 Athens Olympics.

Post-retirement, Wilkshire shifted into coaching and remains a highly regarded figure in Australian football, recognized for his exceptional passing, tactical insight, and leadership qualities.
