In a heartwarming gesture reflective of the Christmas spirit, employees and management of the Land Transport Authority (LTA) recently visited St Christopher’s Home in Nakasi, bringing joy, warmth, and gifts to the children and staff there. This event underscores LTA’s dedication to community service and fostering kindness through its corporate social responsibility initiatives.

LTA Chief Executive Irimaia Rokosawa emphasized the significance of their visit, acknowledging the challenges faced by many of the children at St Christopher’s Home. This facility serves as a refuge for kids from various difficult backgrounds, including those who have been abandoned, neglected, orphaned, or come from broken families. Rokosawa noted that each child carries a unique story, marked by hardship or loss, but all benefit from the caring environment provided by the Home.

The evening included LTA staff from the Valelevu Branch who actively engaged with the children, participating in conversations, singing Christmas carols, and sharing a meal together. This interaction highlighted the importance of human connection and the profound impact of small acts of kindness. Rokosawa conveyed that the visit was deeply meaningful and reminded the LTA team that their responsibility goes beyond road safety; it extends to making a positive difference in the community.

For many staff members, the experience offered a moving reminder of life’s simple joys and the value of giving back. Those unable to attend contributed to the event’s success, illustrating that the spirit of generosity can be shared in numerous ways.

This initiative showcases the power of compassion and community involvement, illuminating how organizations can make a lasting difference in the lives of those in need. As we continue to witness such kindness, it serves as a hopeful reminder of humanity’s potential to uplift and foster connections within our communities during the festive season and beyond.
