In a heartwarming celebration of the Christmas spirit, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) team recently visited St Christopher’s Home in Nakasi to spread joy and kindness. The event featured a festive dinner and gift-giving, reflecting LTA’s commitment to community engagement through its corporate social responsibility efforts.

LTA chief executive Irimaia Rokosawa emphasized the significance of this visit, pointing out that many children at St Christopher’s Home have faced challenging life circumstances. The home serves as a refuge for children from various difficult backgrounds, including those who are abandoned, neglected, orphaned, or from broken homes. He highlighted that each child has a distinct story marked by experiences of loss or hardship, but they are brought together by the care they receive at the home.

During the visit, LTA staff from the Valelevu Branch took the opportunity to build connections with the children through conversations, singing carols, and sharing meals. Rokosawa noted that this gathering was not merely an act of charity but a chance to connect with the children and show them they are loved and valued in the community.

Rokosawa also underscored the importance of fostering human connection and how small gestures can make a significant impact. He stated, “This visit was deeply meaningful for all of us at LTA. We recognize that our responsibility extends beyond our daily operations to embody compassion in the lives we touch.”

The experience resonated deeply with LTA staff, many of whom described it as a powerful reminder of life’s simple joys and the importance of giving back. Those who couldn’t attend played a vital role in organizing the event, demonstrating that the spirit of generosity is alive and well within the organization.

This uplifting initiative illustrates how acts of kindness can bring people together, fostering hope and love during the festive season. It serves as a reminder that community engagement and support can make a lasting difference in the lives of those in need, particularly during the holiday season.
