Parliamentarian Ketan Lal has reiterated his dedication to his constituents by maintaining his role as MP and upholding the values of the 2013 Constitution.
During his budget reply, Mr. Lal stated that one could opt for the easy path to political success or choose the principled route, earning respect for their future political journey.
“As the youngest MP in this chamber, I am deeply committed to continuing my service to the Fijian people as an independent Member of Parliament,” he declared.
Mr. Lal emphasized the importance of steadfastness in their work and the need to uphold the principles and ethics they have always championed.
He highlighted that the long-term success of a politician is determined by the decisions made during their tenure and stressed the importance of looking beyond 2026.
“Politics is often seen as a ruthless game, one where numbers and betrayals can dominate. However, I believe that our true strength lies in the values instilled in us by our parents and former political leaders—values of integrity, resilience, and unwavering commitment,” he said.
Mr. Lal also acknowledged former Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama and former Attorney-General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum for their leadership.
He credited such leaders for Fiji’s progress as one of the fastest growing economies in the Pacific region and for building a strong international presence to advocate for critical issues like climate change.
