Lomary Secondary School Poised for Rugby Redemption in Upcoming Elimination Round

Lomary Secondary School (LSS) is gearing up for the elimination round of the South Eastern Zone of the Vodafone Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby League competition following a close 8-6 defeat to Lami High School at Marcellin School in Vatuwaqa, Suva. Despite the loss, LSS U19 coach Sakiusa Naivalu expressed positivity about the team’s resilience and acknowledged the challenges they faced leading up to the match.

Coach Naivalu pointed out that the team’s decision-making during the game was a critical area needing improvement. He stated, “We’ll work on our decision-making process while also recognizing the difficulties that the team had to endure, including early morning wake-ups and extensive travel.”

The competitive environment continues as Lami High School, which has shown notable progress by advancing to the semi-finals in the Vodafone Super Deans competition, beat defending champions Ratu Kadavulevu School. This victory marked a historic achievement for Lami High as it is the first time in 14 years that their U19 team has reached this level of competition. Both LSS and Lami High showcase the resilience and determination of their players, highlighting the positive spirit in school rugby.

The upcoming elimination round presents an opportunity for LSS to bounce back and demonstrate improvement. As rugby league continues to inspire teamwork and discipline among the youth, it’s essential for schools like LSS to harness the power of sport to foster growth both on and off the field. The journey of these young athletes is a testament to their dedication and a reminder of the value of perseverance in the face of challenges.
