Lock It or Lose It: Police Warn of Vehicle Theft Risks

The Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations, Livai Driu, has issued a warning to the public regarding the dangers of leaving vehicles unattended with keys in the ignition. This advisory follows recent reports of vehicle thefts where suspects took advantage of the situation by stealing cars that had their keys left inside.

ACP Driu emphasized that opportunistic criminals exploit such opportunities and urged vehicle owners to prioritize the security of their cars at all times. He stated, “Opportunists have no regard for anyone when they intend to commit a crime, and this also poses a threat to the families of victims who may be in the vehicle.”

Additionally, ACP Driu mentioned that once a vehicle theft report is filed, check points will be set up to prevent the stolen vehicle from being used in further criminal activities.
