Three of the four local football teams participating in the 2024 Pacific Community Cup tournament are yet to secure a victory in previous tournaments. Lautoka stands apart, having clinched the Pacific Cup two times. In contrast, Rewa, Labasa, and tournament newcomers Navua have not yet achieved a win in this prestigious event.

The Pacific Cup will be hosted in Lautoka next week, where local teams aim to make a significant impact as they face off against four teams from overseas, hailing from New Zealand, Australia, and the USA.

The tournament kicks off with IDC Champions Labasa going head-to-head against the formidable USA All-Stars at 4:30 PM. Meanwhile, Navua, in their debut at the tournament, will seek a robust start as they compete against the AuFFI All-Stars from Australia.

Rewa, recognized as the 2024 National League Champions and one of the most consistent local teams, is scheduled to take on the defending champions, Auckland All-Stars, in their first match. Lastly, Lautoka, the reigning champs of Fiji FACT and BOG, will challenge Manukau All-Stars, last year’s runners-up, in the opening day’s concluding match at Churchill Park in Lautoka.

This year’s tournament presents a promising opportunity for these teams to demonstrate their talent and potentially rewrite their histories as they aim for victory on home turf. The excitement among players and fans is palpable as the community rallies behind their teams, hoping for memorable performances and, perhaps, a breakthrough success in the Pacific Cup.
