Local Stars Shine: Fijiana XV Welcomes New Talent

Four exceptional players from the ANZ Marama Cup have been chosen to join the Vodafone Fijiana XV extended squad for their upcoming test matches against Scotland and the Netherlands this month. The selected players, all from the Suva Women’s team, are Alisi Galo, Alfreda Fisher, Adi Salaseini Railumu, and Ivamere Nabura.

This selection underscores the ANZ Marama Cup’s significance as a vital platform for identifying and developing rugby talent in Fiji. Mike Legge, the coach for Fiji Rugby’s High-Performance Women’s Program, expressed his enthusiasm regarding the selections.

“This is a very special moment for the HPU Women’s Program, as we welcome these new players into the Fijiana squad for the upcoming tour. At present, 12 players from our High-Performance group are included in that squad,” Legge stated.

He highlighted the importance of local competitions in creating opportunities for players who aspire to compete at national and international levels. “Every girl in the HPU dreams of wearing the Fijiana jersey and playing for the Fijiana Drua. Their selection confirms that a pathway exists for our local players, especially those participating in the ANZ Marama Cup,” he added.
