Clothes for Good, a local non-profit organization specializing in pre-loved clothing, has generously donated $1,000 to the SPCA Fiji Islands. This funding will be instrumental in constructing a new outdoor enclosure for the shelter’s feline residents, helping to improve their living conditions.

The donation aims to enhance the SPCA’s facilities by providing cats with a safe and spacious area filled with sunlight and a more natural environment, while also allowing the shelter to accommodate more animals in need.

Based in Nabua and Lami, Clothes for Good is Fiji’s first store dedicated to pre-loved clothing and reinvests all profits back into the community, supporting various local charities. Founder Hayden Ostrom-Brown highlighted the significance of community involvement, stating, “With each purchase made at our store, customers contribute to raising necessary funds for local organizations.”

Ostrom-Brown also indicated that this donation marks the beginning of a long-term partnership with the SPCA. The SPCA Fiji Islands expressed their heartfelt appreciation for the support, acknowledging that this contribution will profoundly influence the quality of care they can provide to the animals. An SPCA representative emphasized their hope that this act of goodwill will encourage other businesses to follow suit.

Ostrom-Brown, who also serves as the CEO of Call Centre My Kora, called on other businesses to join in addressing the pressing issue of stray animals in Fiji. “If more businesses step forward, we can provide better lives for these beautiful animals,” he stated.

The SPCA is crucial in addressing the challenges of stray animals in the community through desexing programs, life-saving surgeries, and rehoming initiatives. This collaboration between Clothes for Good and the SPCA not only benefits the shelter’s animals but fosters a sense of community responsibility and encourages sustainable practices in caring for local wildlife.

In summary, the partnership between Clothes for Good and SPCA Fiji Islands highlights the impactful role that community initiatives play in improving the lives of animals while uniting local businesses for a noble cause. The hope is that this collaboration inspires further contributions from other enterprises, amplifying the positive impact on the local animal welfare landscape.
