Local Coaches Join Fiji Warriors in High-Performance Development Push

Kadavu Rugby coach Josevata Bola and Navosa Rugby coach David Dakuitoga are now part of the Shop N Save Fiji Warriors coaching staff. This collaboration falls under the Fiji Rugby Union’s (FRU) new Coach Development Pathway, which aims to give local coaches greater exposure and experience at the international level.

Head coach Cohen Politini of the Fiji Warriors expressed his appreciation for having both coaches on board ahead of their match against the Australian Country team. “We are blessed to have both the Vanua finalists’ coaches here on attachment and as observers,” Politini noted, highlighting the mutual learning experiences occurring within this enriching environment.

Bola and Dakuitoga will gain firsthand insights into high-performance coaching preparations, knowledge that will be invaluable in developing their respective provincial and grassroots rugby programs. In recent competitions, Kadavu and Navosa made significant strides in rugby, with Kadavu triumphing in a thrilling final against Navosa in the Vodafone Vanua Cup, winning 23-17. This achievement led to both teams’ promotion to the Skipper Cup for the upcoming season, showcasing their growing talent and potential in Fiji rugby.

The upcoming clash is set for 4 PM today at Prince Charles Park in Nadi, where the Fiji Warriors will take on the Australian Country team. This match represents a pivotal opportunity not only for the players but also for the coaches to learn and develop their skills in a competitive atmosphere, thereby inspiring the next generation of rugby talent across Fiji. The ongoing engagement of local coaches in high-level contexts is a hopeful step toward enhancing the sport in the region, ultimately benefiting the larger rugby community.
