Local Celebration Honors Miss Hibiscus 2024 Melania Tora’s Victory

Miss Hibiscus, Melania Tora, received a traditional welcome and honor in her home village of Sabeto, Nadi, on Saturday. The local community, known as Vanua o Betoraurau, celebrated her achievement, highlighting her role in promoting Nadi and Fiji on a global scale, according to clan leader, Kiniviliame Mokotanavanua.

The event was attended by Tui Sabeto, Ratu Viliame Mataitoga, who expressed pride in Ms. Tora’s success, describing it as a source of hope and inspiration. “Congratulations to our amazing vulau (daughter)!” he said.

Ms. Tora, who was crowned Miss Hibiscus two weeks ago, was supported by her sponsor Tents and Awnings. Ratu Viliame emphasized the significance of her representation, stating, “You have shown to the world what it means to represent your roots with pride.”

He acknowledged the wider recognition of her village and chiefly house, Na Momo na Tui Sabeto, as a result of her achievements. Ms. Tora expressed gratitude to her chief and community for their unwavering support throughout the festival. “It was through your support, your guidance, and your prayers that I was able to achieve the Miss Hibiscus crown. Thank you,” she remarked.
