Local Businessman Wins Inaugural Sigatoka Golf Title in Thrilling Play-Off

Jeral Sharma, a businessman from Sigatoka, claimed the first-ever Sigatoka Electric Cooperate Golf amateur title at the Natadola Bay Championship Golf Course over the weekend. Sharma scored a 76 after winning in a playoff against Ba school teacher Asish Chand.

“It was a great outing but a bit tough out there; I had to stick to the game,” Sharma commented on his performance. Meanwhile, Sumith Perera took home the overall net title with a score of 67, while veteran golfer Susie Yee achieved the ladies’ overall net title.

In the professional category, Taitusi Tuivuci emerged as champion with a par score of 72. Tomasi Tuivuna, the current leader of the Fiji Order of Merit, finished just two shots behind with a score of 74, expressing that it was simply bad luck on the day.

Golf course manager Avinesh Datt highlighted the wonderful weather and the impressive participation, thanking players for committing to the concluding tournament of the year. Sigatoka Electric Ltd’s managing director, Vijay Narayan, expressed satisfaction with the event’s turnout and confirmed plans for an even larger event next year.

The event showcased various results across different grades, with notable performances from players like Jay Meghi and Surj Maharaj.
