Jeral Sharma, a businessman from Sigatoka, emerged victorious in the inaugural Sigatoka Electric Cooperative Golf amateur tournament held at the Natadola Bay Championship Golf Course over the weekend. He secured the title with a score of 76 after a thrilling playoff against Asish Chand, a teacher from Ba.
“It was a great outing, but a bit tough out there. I had to stick to the game,” Sharma remarked after his win.
In addition, Sumith Perera claimed the overall net title with a remarkable score of 67, while veteran golfer Susie Yee took home the ladies’ overall net title.
In the professional category, Taitusi Tuivuci claimed victory with a score of par 72, while Tomasi Tuivuna, the current leader of the Fiji Order of Merit, finished just two shots behind with a score of 74. Tuivuna commented, “It was hard luck, I guess, but that’s what it is in the green on game day.”
Golf course manager Avinesh Datt praised the event, highlighting the enthusiastic participation amid favorable weather, and thanked the players for their commitment to the final tournament of the year. Sigatoka Electric Ltd managing director Vijay Narayan expressed satisfaction with the turnout and assured that next year’s event would be even more significant and impressive.
