Sigatoka businessman Jeral Sharma emerged victorious in the inaugural Sigatoka Electric Cooperate Golf amateur championship, held at the picturesque Natadola Bay Championship Golf Course over the weekend. Sharma posted a score of 76 after an intense play-off against Ba school teacher Asish Chand.

Reflecting on his experience, Sharma remarked, “It was a great outing, but a bit tough out there. I had to stick to the game.” His perseverance paid off as he clinched the top spot in a competitive field.

In addition to Sharma’s triumph, Sumith Perera achieved the overall net title with an impressive score of 67, while veteran golfer Susie Yee captured the ladies’ overall net title.

In the professional category, Taitusi Tuivuci stood out with a score of par 72, earning him the championship title. Fiji Order of Merit leader Tomasi Tuivuna finished just two shots behind at 74. Tuivuna noted his disappointment but recognized the unpredictable nature of the game, saying, “It was hard luck I guess, but that’s what it is in the green on game day.”

Sigatoka Electric Ltd managing director Vijay Narayan also shared his satisfaction and excitement for the future, stating, “We can confirm that the event will be bigger and better next year.”

This event not only provided an exciting conclusion to the golf season but also sets a positive anticipation for next year’s competition, fostering community spirit and promoting sportsmanship among participants. The commitment from participants and organizers alike hints at a bright future for golfing events in the region.
