Jamendra Singh, a businessman from Labasa, recently highlighted the exemplary healthcare provided by Pacific Specialist Healthcare Hospitals (PSH) following his successful open-heart bypass surgery in Nadi. After experiencing heart-related symptoms for six months, Singh sought treatment, which involved multiple trips to Viti Levu for testing and consultations.

At 54 years of age, Singh’s situation prompted a referral for open-heart surgery after he learned that stenting wasn’t a suitable option for his condition. He became the first heart patient from the Northern Division to undergo this procedure in Nadi, a significant milestone for local healthcare.

Dr. Sanjeev Khulbey, a well-respected cardiothoracic surgeon, and his skilled team at PSH were instrumental in Singh’s recovery. His surgery was facilitated through the support of his medical insurance provider, Bank of South Pacific (BSP) Life, which helped manage the administrative aspects required for his procedure.

Singh expressed gratitude for the “VIP service” he received at PSH and intends to share his positive experience in Labasa, helping to raise awareness about the high-quality healthcare options available locally. This not only highlights the potential to reduce the need for costly overseas medical treatments but also reflects a broader trend among patients. Similar to Singh’s case, Suresh Chand, who underwent triple-bypass surgery at PSH, has praised the local medical facilities available in Fiji.

PSH has gained recognition for its advancements in cardiac care, including numerous successful open-heart surgeries. These developments are expected to enhance local healthcare access and spark interest in health tourism in Fiji. Parvish Kumar, the founder and CEO of PSH, emphasized their dedication to providing high-quality medical services, focusing on timely care and affordability, which are critical for better health outcomes within the community.

The trend towards improved healthcare facilities represents a hopeful change in the medical landscape of Fiji. It fosters an environment where residents can receive essential, life-saving treatments closer to home, ultimately benefiting both community health and local economic prospects through health tourism initiatives.
