Local Businessman Claims Inaugural Golf Title at Natadola Bay

Jeral Sharma, a businessman from Sigatoka, claimed the first Sigatoka Electric Cooperate Golf amateur title over the weekend at the stunning Natadola Bay Championship Golf Course. Sharma finished the tournament with a score of 76, securing victory after a competitive playoff against Ba school teacher Asish Chand.

Reflecting on his performance, Sharma expressed, “It was a great outing but a bit tough out there, but I had to stick to the game.” The competition featured impressive performances across several categories, with Sumith Perera claiming the overall net title with a score of 67, and veteran player Susie Yee taking the ladies’ overall net prize.

In the professional category, Taitusi Tuivuci emerged as champion, shooting a par 72. Tomasi Tuivuna, who currently leads the Fiji Order of Merit, finished just two shots behind, expressing some disappointment but recognizing the unpredictability of the game.

Golf course manager Avinesh Datt praised the participants and acknowledged the favorable weather conditions that contributed to the event’s success. He expressed gratitude to all players for participating in the final tournament of the year. Sigatoka Electric Ltd’s managing director, Vijay Narayan, also expressed satisfaction with the event and hinted at plans for an even larger and improved tournament next year.

The tournament results highlighted strong performances in various grade categories, showcasing the talent and competitiveness among local golfers.
