A businessman from Labasa is investing millions into the development of two hotels in Fiji’s Northern Division. Vinesh Dayal, the managing director of The Lunchbox, Northpole Hotels Labasa, and Vualiku Hotel Nadi, has revealed plans to establish hotels in both Labasa and Savusavu.
Dayal expressed a long-standing desire to have a presence in Savusavu and has acquired a 10-acre beachfront site there. He stated, “In the next 24 months, you will see the first resort to be constructed by a local.”
Regarding the Labasa project, he indicated that construction for the Vualiku Hotel at Jaycee’s Park is expected to commence soon. This hotel initiative is part of a joint partnership with local landowners, a collaboration that began 14 years ago. Dayal emphasized the importance of involving landowners in mainstream business, noting that they are finally seeing progress.
The two hotel projects are anticipated to generate employment opportunities and contribute positively to the local economy. Dayal highlighted that Lunchbox has established itself as a well-known brand, currently employing 100 individuals across seven branches. Meanwhile, the newly opened Vualiku Hotel in Nadi has created 40 jobs, and Labasa Northpole employs 30 workers.
Confidence in the economy has driven Dayal’s substantial investment in his business.
