In an exciting conclusion to the Fiji Bitter Malake 7s tournament, Blue Gas Lilian White won the women’s title by defeating the defending champions, Wardens Women, with a score of 10-5 at Narauyaba ground in Ra yesterday.

The Lilian team demonstrated a well-coordinated style of rugby that kept the audience engaged throughout the game. Their energetic performance and unwavering determination were key to overcoming their experienced rivals.

Coach Tirani Uluinakauvadra commended the team’s hard work and unity, stating that their achievement was a testament to their commitment and collaboration. “Despite having only one day of preparation after returning from New Zealand, the girls gave their best,” he remarked, noting their resilience.

The Lilian team had recently returned from New Zealand, where they claimed victory in the 2024 Tanoatea Duavata Pasifika 7s, bringing their winning momentum back to Fiji.

In the men’s final, Police Blues successfully defended their title, narrowly defeating M.Recht Devo Babas with a score of 5-0. The match was highly competitive, with Police Blues demonstrating strategic skill and physical strength to secure their championship status.
